(to be adding inserts to the story here, when edited...)
So
by 1995 I already had a number of compositions gathered together for a first album.
All except Free Being and Gaia, had been composed at Epping,
(a northern suburb of Sydney) before we moved to Morpeth about five
kilometers from Maitland - in NSW.
The main music of the First Light of Mind album
appeared during a time of intense inspiration while living at Epping when
Dianne and I were planning a marketing strategy for our range of fragrant oil products.
When
the song New Breeze was composed later, on the 15th February, 2005 while living in Morpeth, I had such a feeling of "moving on" from events that had transpired. I had been through very difficult times and on that day a sense of relief from the events of the past seemed to announce the arrival of a change ahead. Hence its name.
I decided then that it was to be the first song on the album.
The upstairs room of this two story "Cape Cod" style of home was thickly carpeted and the keyboard was
positioned so that I looked out of the box window onto the flood plain beyond the river that flowed past the house,
but separated
from the house by the riverbank horse paddock.
