Rob has
pulled off the improbable again!
It is amazing the work
Rob has
done, not only toward finding anything about Gwendolyn, but in piecing
together the Maternal side of the family. The Dunstan Family.
Rob has achieved an amazing resolution
in a stroke of genius.
For some time
Rob has been searching for his father, and by having a DNA test
through a website called
MyHeritage.com .... he has made contact with
what has turned out to be
his
genetic family on his father's side, and found his birth father, who
has unfortunately passed over leaving three boys and two daughters - one of
them having the beautiful name "Gabrielle".
Rob got this
photo which is pretty conclusive that the man is/was his
father, and has had some contact with the sisters who have
acknowledged him as their half brother, though no further contact
was desired by them which has resulted in Rob having to accept things as
they are. Their mother is still alive but there is a breakdown of
communication for some unknown reason at this time, and sadly the children
have no contact with her.

I was reading
a passage I had written years ago of a labyrinth of theories about
the "big picture" of what may have happened. Some theories
are likely under normal circumstances, but others take into account
more unusual circumstances. I will be working further to sort this
part of history as I can.

There is a time line
1958 |
Rob's birth - Father confirmed as Leonard Henry Coursor
after DNA Test |
1963 |
I went to Sydney and met "Neville" or "Robert" I was 15yrs
old |
1973 |
Mum Married Robert Pollin |
1977 |
Marriage was dissolved in 1977 |
1986 |
Robert Pollin passed over. |
It is my opinion that mum knew
that Robert Pollin was not the father but that she may have led him
to believe he WAS the father and preferred that Rob's genetic father was not
revealed. I believe she
never saw Robs genetic father after the conception, and it is my belief that
Rob's genetic father may never have known of the conception.
There us the possibility that
Gwendolyn had a
long term relationship with Robert Pollin from before Rob's birth in 1858. Due to
the circumstance that she became pregnant, she gave her son the name
Robert. Never the less Rob was adopted into a Christian family close after
his birth. In my mind, it is similar to the fact that she gave me the name David after my own father.
Since I reconnected with my
mother in 1963 just after my 15th birthday, she was living with a man whose
name did not stick in my mind as names rarely do. His name may well have been Robert
thought I kept thinking it was "Nev" or some other easily short-handled name. I am simply not sure at this
time.

Information
has come to light that Gwendolyn married Robert Pollin in 1973 and
"dissolved" in 1977... (the year my only daughter was born.)
I believe her relationship with
Robert either turned sour since the birth and adoption of Rob, or there were
other circumstances that will probably be near to impossible to clarify
resulting in an DISSOLVE of the marriage.
The details need to be researched
further. I can't help feeling the magnitude of her very sad life events led to
Gwendolyn's disappearance. As there were later details that connected her to
Melbourne, there are many possibilities why she found herself there.
Robert Pollin
died in 1986 and lived
in Kings Cross. At this time I have no information on the circumstances of
his passing.
The trouble is, it is not as if absolutely anyone has
ever cared about her disappearance. When someone goes missing you would think real police or
detectives would have been interested. However there is also as much concern
for Robert Pollin.

It was reported
to us by Mum's sister, Eva, through Rob, who found her in 2004, that
Gwendolyn's clothes and possessions were offered
to Eva by someone in Melbourne. This is a very weird thing. Eva either didn't believe the items were
really Gwen's, or that the cost of postage "could not be met"
for one reason
or another. The story goes that Eva asked local Police what
she should do, and they dismissed it as a hoax... So she never did
anything - and so Mother's trail died there.
I am wondering if there was...
1) An illness
: As I was aware that Gwendolyn had a lot of serious health issues
when I last saw her in 1969... In hindsight, they may have included some
kind of cancer or other serious condition that was treated in Melbourne.
2) or if she was a victim of fowl play. It is doubtful if
anything about the incident was recorded and kept on police files. That
would be asking too much. I guess I have watched too many English Detective
stories., however it is something that should be followed up sometime..
Lord knows how a
person disappears from all records in a place like Australia. I guess until
all kinds of records are freely available on the Internet, many disappearances and
other issues will never be solved. I think it is becoming an expectation in
the minds of today's citizens that this is the logical step for a better
society... a better world. Let us hope that something happens to actually
bring this about.
In any event,
Gwendolyn Josephine Dunstan
should be regarded as a missing person, in my book.
